Dr. Brownridge was born in Santa Cruz and grew up in Vallejo, CA. He graduated from Southern Oregon State College in 1975 with a B.A. in Biochemistry. In 1979 he graduated from the University of Pacific in San Francisco and began practicing at Hughes Dental Group in September of that year. Dr. Brownridge is a member of Tau Kappa Omega Dental Honor Society, Santa Clara Dental Society, California Dental Society, American Dental Society, and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Society. He spends many hours in continuing education to keep current with trends in technology.

Dr. Brownridge lives in Campbell with his wife and three children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, travel and cooking. He also likes to get involved with his children's' sports activities such as basketball, soccer, baseball and volleyball.

James A. Carter, D.D.S.

Born in Bend, Oregon, Dr. Carter moved to Palo Alto at age 3. He attended Palo Alto High School, graduating in 1961. After high school he attended San Jose State University and the University of Pacific Dental School. Following graduation from dental school in 1968, Dr. Carter served 3 years in the U.S. Army with the 47th Detached Medical Division in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Dr. Carter has two children: Matt who is married and lives in Santa Rosa, and Nicole who lives and works in San Francisco. His wife Melinda is the owner and manager of All Season Travel in Scotts Valley.

Dr. Carter built a cedar strip canoe in 1996. He enjoys paddling it with friends and using it for fly fishing. He also enjoys traveling with his wife to all corners of the world. Other quirky hobbies Dr. Carter pursues are: collecting sand from beaches the world over and collecting "banana stickers". His collection now includes over 300 different stickers.

Thomas A. Hughes, D.D.S

Dr. Thomas A. Hughes, son of the group's founder Dr. John A. Hughes, grew up in Santa Clara county. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 1984 from UC Davis. He received his D.D.S. degree from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1987 and joined the practice that year. Dr. Hughes is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Santa Clara Dental Society.

Dr. Hughes lives in Saratoga with his wife and son. He enjoys hiking and backpacking. He is an avid cyclist, often cycling to and from work. Dr. Hughes is also a pilot and a member of the Flying Doctors.

Lee S. Loomer, D.D.S.

Dr. Loomer was raised in Orange County, California, and graduated from California State College at Fullerton in 1969 with a B.A. in Biological Science.

In 1973, he graduated from dental school at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. Loomer is a member of the American Dental Society, California Dental Society and the Santa Clara Dental Society. A member of Tau Kappa Omega Dental Honor Society, Dr. Loomer attends over 25 hours of continuing education every year. For twenty five years he has practiced general dentistry in Campbell - both as an associate of John A. Hughes, D.D.S., and as a member of the Hughes Dental Group. Dr. Loomer enjoys his opportunity to serve the families of Campbell - especially following the lives of his patients and their children as they grow and prosper.

Dr. Loomer lives in Los Gatos with his wife and four children. His hobbies include camping, running, travel and history.

Clifford O. Marks, D.D.S.

Dr. Marks earned his B.S. degree from U.C. Berkeley and his D.D.S. degree from University of Pacific School of Dentistry. He associated at various dental offices prior to joining Hughes Dental Group in 1988. Dr. Marks especially enjoys cosmetic dentistry and tooth replacement dentistry.

Hughes Dental Group is unique among dental offices in that our employees are truly friendly people who care about our patients. In keeping with this tradition, Dr. Marks performs a number of dental procedures for the needy and underserved residents of certain local skilled nursing facilities.

Dr. Marks was born, raised, and educated in the Bay Area. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, son and daughter. He is a voracious reader who likes to keep current on all the latest trends in dentistry.
